First Stop: Banlung Market

Every journey begins with a stop at the morning market. Here, we will get supplies and experience the bustle of local economy.

Buried Treasures

From the market, we will head to the gem mine, where the locals dig for precious minerals. Here, you can even purchase some of their findings, which have been carved into intricate little trinkets made from the very Onyx, Amethyst, Zircon, and Quartz they are actively excavating beneath your feet.

The Charai Cemetery

Many of the locals in northeastern Cambodia practice Animism. This is most apparent by how they process death. Here, we will see how these traditions have shaped the people. We will learn about their religion, and what it means to live and die as a Charai.

Farming For Profit!

Next we head out to the farms, both black pepper and avocado. The pepper industry is one of the most lucrative exports of the country, and the scale of this particular farm is impressive!

A Community of Weavers

We will then head to the Weaving Village of the Tampoun Tribe, where we will see the local tradition of handcrafting fabrics, and learn of the culture surrounding it.

A Local Hotspot

Yeak Laom, a lake formed from the crater of an ancient volcano, isn’t just popular with tourists. Every weekend, this destination is popular among locals looking to relax, snack, and rest in the many hammocks available for rent. Do as the locals do, kicking back in the shade, choose to swim in the calm waters, or take the path that encircles the beautiful natural wonder.

Take A Dip or Snap A Pic

Out penultimate destination is one of the many waterfalls that make Ratanakiri are popular destination for travelers. If you didn’t get your fill of swimming at the lake, feel free to dive in here as well! Or just take some pictures, as this waterfall is the perfect backdrop for your new profile picture. 😉

Sunset at the Giant Buddha

The tour will end at the peak of Svay Mountain, where a giant buddha sits, watching over the province of Ratanakiri. Here, we will sip on local rice wine and look out on the magnificent view of northeastern Cambodia.

A Satisfying End

The day is done, and the tour is finished, but that doesn’t mean the adventure is over! If trekking isn’t your jam, we have other tours to fill your days, or you can just relax on the patio of your private bungalow, reading in your hammock!
