Tribe & Village Tour
The Kachok community is a remote circle of villages that speak a local language known as Kachok. They are an ancient and distinctive culture, blending aspects of the Christian faith with traditional Animism. In this tour, we will spend the day seeing how this these small communities live, visit a beautiful waterfall, and eat local delights.

First Stop: Banlung Market
Every journey begins with a stop at the morning market. Here, we will get supplies and experience the bustle of local economy.

Ferry To Another World…
Remote communities take time to get to. After about an hour and a half tuk-tuk ride out to the Virachey National Park, we will cross the Tonle San River (known locally as Se-San) by ferry.

The Kachok People
Their language is only spoken by clusters of tribes here and in Vietnam, but their culture predates the Khmer Empire itself. Devout Animists, their approach to death, mourning, and the celebration of a spirit’s passing gained international attention after preservation efforts by UNESCO shared their culture with the world.

Lunch with the Locals
After getting the tour of the town, we will be invited to experience an everyday lunch as guests in one of the family’s homes.

Off To Krung Village
After making our way back across the river, we will head to another village. Ancestral neighbors to the Kachok, the Krung are similar but distinct. We will see craftsmen working, locals living, and children playing.

Take A Dip or Snap A Pic
In the late afternoon, we will stop off at the Cha Ong Waterfall, where you can relax, take some pictures, dip your toes, or even dive in and cool off!

Sunset at the Giant Buddha
The tour will end at the peak of Svay Mountain, where a giant buddha sits, watching over the province of Ratanakiri. Here, we will sip on local rice wine and look out on the magnificent view of northeastern Cambodia.

A Satisfying End
The day is done, and the tour is finished, but that doesn’t mean the adventure is over! If trekking isn’t your jam, we have other tours to fill your days, or you can just relax on the patio of your private bungalow, reading in your hammock!
